Leaks, Covers, and Mixtapes Tour Concert Review
Thank you OneSelfers for joining me on this journey for another concert! I had to do it again with JoJo. Don’t worry I will have a vlog concert review for you all the following day. JoJo’s concert was held at Great American Music Hall, which was located in Tenderloin neighborhood between southern slope of Nob Hill, situated between the Union Square shopping district to the northeast and the Civic Center. Now let’s get back into this amazing concert that I attended.
Opening Act
OMG!!! That’s how I can describe Malia Civetz. She is so amazing. I seriously discovered her on this tour. What I would usually do is look up the artist and their work to learn their music. This time i wanted to listen first hand. You will not be disappointed.
Her songs are so powerful, dominate, encouragement, uplifting, independent and most of all being okay with your sexuality at any size! YES!!! I;m glad that she made me feel that way. I honestly got an extra boost of confidence when she sings and her message. I cannot wait to get her stuff when it drops. She knows what’s up and she is doing it for the curvy woman out there.
Malia even told me where she got her top from on Twitter! Malia is the real deal! Keep doing what you are doing! You will go far girl! You need to check Malia Civetz on all of her social media handles!
Malia just release her new called Little Victories. Her song is available now to download.
Welcome To The Cover Room & Fashion
I know that the tour is called Leaks, Covers, and Mixtapes, but let me tell you, I walked into The Clover Room. It felt like I walked into a club between a Burlesque and Stripe club all rolled into one. [JoJo even said- at random that she loves going to the stripe club]. The Cover Room took up to another place that I really can’t describe. I’m sorry of you missed any shows in California, but you have to be here to understand the atmosphere was bananas.
JoJo set the tone. She gave us this 90’s feel in a 2018 vibe. To me, her outfits in my own option were inspired by Aaliyah’s fashion. Aaliyah set the tone when she was alive and her fashion lives on. You can’t denied the style. Shoot where can I find this outfit JoJo? I’m not sure how many outfits that JoJo has during her 18 date tour but she did wear this number for the SF (San Francisco) venue compared to LA and Anaheim show.
The Songs and Messages
JoJo took up way back to those 10 years between her second and third studio albums The High Road and Mad Love to give us the music that express who JoJo really develop from a young girl to a “Wonder Woman” into her own voice. She gave us, the fans an amazing playlist from those 10 years that not only shaped JoJo but also shaped us as well. So if you going to see JoJo, best believe you will not hear any songs from studio albums JoJo, The High Road, and Mad Love. This tour is what is stated in the titled: “Leaks, Covers and Mixtapes". JoJo gave us songs such as Thinking Out Loud, 25 To Life, Marvin’s Room, Caught Up In The Rapture, and with a dash of melodies. She wished that she could have every track on this tour. But I feel that the fans really loved it. I really wished Andre and Disaster made the cut. Next time!
Throughout JoJo’s set she had some time to talk to us and showing us some love. She expressed how much she means to us, the fans, and what her music she created in this time period. She even sung Rock The Boat in Aaliyah’s honor and well as her bestfriend/American Idol Alum Leah LaBelle who pasted away 5 months ago in a car crash [with her husband, Former NBA player Rasual Butler]. Aaliyah was Leah favorite singer. She mention how Aaliyah’s music is still held up and not able to be streamed or brought and so is her own music (first 2 studio albums). And I agree, release their music so that people can buy these amazing women’s body of work. To me this is not about making money off the living or dead, this is about celebrating these women so that future generations can discover their work and buy them. I still need to get Aaliyah’s first 3 studio albums in the physical form. I just have I Care 4 U. But JoJo is keeping it real and the fan knew what she meant! We have been on this journey with her. I’ve been her fan since 2004, when I heard her voice on the radio, now that was “The Voice”.
Overall
Overall the concert was amazing from beginning to the very end. I few of use stayed after to chat with the band. The guys: Kenji and Chuck are so chill and down to earth. I even got to take a picture with them. I can’t wait to see them next time when they go on tour with JoJo. A few of us stayed try to see JoJo when she gets on her tour bus. Let’s just say we missed her even though I saw her get on the tour bus and say anything...ugh. So if you are seeing JoJo on the last 15 dates you will have an amazing time. Also there is a merchandise booth so you can buy some gear.
