June’s Diary All of Us EP Review

Let’s do this! I was put on by a great friend of mines named Rajaianne to listen to this album. Also she is a huge June’s Dairy fan. The girls know her name and even sung Happy Birthday to her. She goes hard for her girl group. Also you should follow her IG account at @junesdiaryisrandb

June’s Diary is made up of five talented young ladies:

(L-R) Brienna DeVlugt, Gabby Carreiro, Shyann Roberts, Ashley Williams, and Kristal Lyndriette-Smith

These young amazing women came together through a docu-series in 2016 on BET called Chasing Destiny. This was inspired by our very own Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland and along with choreographer/director Frank Gatson Jr. actually came up with this concept when she was on her Destiny’s Fulfilled Tour and the void of girl groups on the music scene. The last time I can remember a successful group girl in my time [currently Little Mix] from my high school and college days would have been Danty Kane… I missed those girls….and honestly Kelly is right. I missed some R&B girl groups on the charts. For more info check out the show Chasing Destiny. Even though the show is 2 years old, you may find it on BET website or on a free website somewhere.

After their win, a few months later the girls went on tour with R. Kelly, Xscape and Jussie Smollett to get that group exposure. The girls did release a mixtape titled Male Edition of hit songs from male guy groups. But we are here to talk about the first debut extended play [EP] titled All of Us. The album dropped last week on June 30th through the independent label, Music of Sound.

The EP discusses major themes such as female empowerment, heartbreak and love. The ladies also have two guest features on their six tracks EP from female rapper Trina and R&B singer and Empire’s own Jussie Smollett. This album reached #1 on the charts. Congratulations ladies. Through all the trails with your labels [being let go after L.A. Reid departure] you are proving to the world that you ladies are here to stay.

All six tracks are meant to be heard. For each of the song’s, I can picture the videos and how they can be. This needs to happen.

1. Good Time- The song's vibe takes you back to that New Orleans 1920s and 1930s vibe with a dash of 2018 feel. You will enjoy this track.

2. Take Me- This song needs to be on the radio. This is a summer jam song for 20018. Come on OneSelfers let's make it happen. The island is calling for us [and our boos lol].

3. Have You Ever- This track will have you in your feelings. I felt like I had a boo [*cough* Klay Thompson *cough*].. Fall 2018 jam!!

4. His Phone- This is the ultimate track will test the trust in your relationship. What will you find? What will you not find?

5. All of Us Ft. Trina- Bomb song!!!

6. Hurt People w/ Jusse Smollett- If you listen and/or watch Hurt People song by Jusse Smollett then you know how this song is powerful. Now add June's Dairy on the track starting off in an acapella intro, I had to throw my shoe...

Overall everybody needs to download this album. It’s on all digital download platforms. I also recommended that Take Me be the first single off the album. Until next time OneSelfers.
