International Women’s Day: Sol Sisters

I’m back with another inspiration bog post just for you. This weekend I took the weekend off and caught a train to the Bay Area for a weekend of fun, relaxation and fellowship. This weekend was rewarding in itself and I learn a little bit about myself and where I’m at in my late 20’s.

One of my closest friend’s Dyresha invited me to an International Women’s Day in Oakland tat was put on by Sol Sisters, an non-profit organization in that is made up of a diverse group of women professionals passionate about combining the arts, physical health and wellness, mental health interventions and community service in order to enrich, empower and evolve women of all backgrounds. On this trip I was able to meet some of my friend’s coworkers and her bestfriend. I got to meet Michelle (bestfriend), Stephany M and Stephanie L.S. and Analicica (who I know from college, well I know her mom for years). The event was held at Impact Hub. This is a great place where you can rent out office space and or have meeting or events just like the event that I attended today.

At the event thee where many women from all different races and backgrounds that attended

the event. I have seen entrepreneurs where there to sell their products, and to market their local businesses. I love supporting local businesses. I have seen local bakers, beauty and hair products, clothing, glassware, etc. There were also different performances throughout the event from poetry to singing.

The event was so successful. The atmosphere was amazing. It felt like I was at a coffee shop or an art exhibit just enjoying everybody’s company. I’ve seen some ladies rocking their natural hair, women fellowship with other ladies and having a great time. The best of all, networking! I even did my own painting that was happening in another room with Stephany M. This was a great way to hang out with other people and make connections with other ladies.

The event was held on March 10th from 10:30am-1:30pm. The cover charge was $10. You can RSVP online or you can pay your $10 at the event like I did. I would recommend any lady who hasn’t been to an event like this, you must attend one. Until next time OneSefers!
